Tottenham news: Ange Postecoglou offers Harry Kane transfer update as Edmond Tapsoba talks held

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Tuesday, July 11.

Ange Postecoglou delivers update on Harry Kane's Tottenham future amid transfer links

New Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has spoken about Harry Kane's future with the club amid talk of a potential transfer to Bayern Munich.

Kane is into the final 12 months of his current contract in north London and football.london understands that Spurs have previously offered their all-time top goalscorer the opportunity to discuss a huge new deal. The prolific centre-forward is, however, believed to be in no rush to commit to a new deal during this transfer window while he assesses what the future holds.

When asked about the England captain's future in N17, head coach Postecoglou said: "I don't think it's my role to sit there and treat people in a manner because of their circumstances. I treat everyone the same. Harry is already an important figure in the history of this football club.

"He's one of the premier players in the world. I want him here and I want to make this club successful. I'm certain he wants that as well.

"It's not going to be a conversation where we come out with some kind of understanding. I just want to introduce myself and I want to know what he wants to happen to make this football club successful then we'll go out there on the training ground and make it happen."

Ex-Tottenham star says Harry Kane will remain at the club this season amid Bayern bid

Gus Poyet does not believe that Harry Kane will leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer despite the attention of Bayern Munich. Poyet, who played 98 times for Spurs and scored 23 goals, before returning to the club as an assistant manager to Juande Ramos does not believe that Kane will leave this summer.

"Based on previous experience, I would say Harry Kane will still be at Tottenham next season. Two years ago I thought he was going to Manchester City. I was not even 99% sure, I was 100% sure, and then he stayed," he told 888sport. "If I was Harry Kane I would stay in the Premier League rather than going to Bayern Munich.

"It will be a massive decision for Tottenham, for Harry, and for everyone involved, and of course, as the coach, Ange Postecoglou would like him to stay. There have been so many rumours and so many things happening over the past two or three years so I can’t say for sure what is going to happen. I think the only person who really knows is Harry Kane."

Edmond Tapsoba representatives hold talks with Tottenham in London

Edmond Tapsoba’s representatives were in London this weekend in order to discuss the personal terms with Tottenham, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The meet-up was said to be 'constructive' and talks are progressing regarding the player's salary. There are still key parts of the deal still to be negotiated, but all parties remain involved. Tapsoba is among the defensive targets being considered by Tottenham as well as Wolfsburg star Micky van de Ven.
