Sting and Blondie at Malahide Castle: How to get there, stage times, tickets and setlist

Legendary singer and guitarist Sting is set to perform an outdoor gig at Dublin's Malahide Castle tonight with special guests Blondie.

The 71-year-old musician is expected to draw in a large crowd of up to 20,000 fans at tonight's concert. Sting is due to perform some of his most iconic hits from his time with The Police and his own solo career including 'Every Breath You Take', 'Fields of Gold' and 'Roxanne'.

Sting will also be joined tonight by special guests rock band Blondie who will perform hit songs like 'Heart of Glass', 'One Way Or Another' and 'The Tide is High.'

If you're heading to Malahide Castle this evening to see Sting and Blondie, here's everything you need to know from getting there, tickets, stage times, banned items and setlist.

How to get to Malahide Castle

Thousands of Sting and Blondie fans will descend upon north east Dublin this evening. Concert promoters MCD is encouraging fans to take public transport to reach Malahide Castle due to expected delays.

It's also best if you are taking public transport to the gig to also book a return ticket. Also, pedestrians are only allowed into the grounds of the venue via the Hogans Gate entrance, which is near the Malahide DART Station.

Dublin Bus routes

There are several Dublin Bus routes that travel to and from Malahide Castle. The routes 32 and 42 go from the city centre all the way up to Malahide Village and then it's just a short ten minute walk to the venue.

DART

If you decide on taking the DART to Malahide Castle, there's relatively easy access as the closest stop near the venue is Malahide Train Station.

It's then a 15-minute walk to Malahide Castle. Other city centre Dart locations include Grand Canal Dock, Pearse, Tara Street and Connolly Stations.

By coach

There is a direct coach service to and from Customs House Quay, Dublin 1 in the city centre, which departs from the Dublin Road in Malahide post-concert. Book a return journey or find out more at www.marathoncoaches.ie.

Parking

Limited car parking will be provided at the Malahide Castle Concerts via the Back Road. But it's likely to be quite busy on the night, so it's best to get there as early as possible if you're parking a car.

Are there any tickets left for Sting and Blondie?

There are actually still a few tickets available for Sting and Blondie's gig in Malahide Castle tonight via Ticketmaster.

The tickets can be bought from Ticketmaster from €69.90 excluding booking fee and there's a couple of resale tickets available as well. Ticket holders heading to tonight's gig are advised to download, print or save their tickets before they arrive at Malahide Castle.

Ticketmaster box offices and guest list facilities will be located opposite the arena entrance.

Gates open and stage times

Gates for Sting at Malahide Castle will open at 5pm this evening, and the show is set to kick off from around 6pm with special guests Blondie.

Concertgoers are advised that no early queueing is allowed at Malahide Castle, as it's located closed to a residential area. Concertgoers are also being warned that re-entry is not allowed once you've left the venue.

Sting is expected be on stage at approximately 8pm. The Police frontman's set typically lasts around an hour and 40 minutes.

Important things to know including banned items

Concert-goers heading to see Sting and Blondie at Malahide Castle are being urged to respect local residents by not parking illegally or in residential areas.

Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 or they will be refused entry to the venue otherwise.

Banned items include:

  • NO alcohol or drinks are allowed to be brought to the venue, there will be catering and bar facilities available inside the venue

  • Backpacks and large bags will not be allowed, only small bags measuring no bigger than A4 will be allowed

  • Garden furniture and deckchairs and fold up chairs

  • Umbrellas

  • Selfie sticks

  • Flares/fireworks

  • Laser pens

  • Megaphone/air horns

  • Aerosols/ spray cans, smoke & gas canisters, nitrous oxide & any associated equipment

  • Glass

  • Drones

  • Chinese lanterns

  • Sound systems

  • Professional cameras with a detachable lens, recording equipment, Go Pros
