Share your memories of the BT Tower

The BT Tower is to be converted into an upmarket hotel. The telecom company has agreed to sell the building for £275m to MCR hotels, a company which owns some of New York’s most luxurious and well known hotels.

BT Group said the deal with MCR Hotels would still preserve the Grade II-listed building for the future.

In the 1960s, 4,000 people a day would visit the observation tower to enjoy a panoramic view of the capital, but the restaurant was shut in 1971 following a bombing and the building has been closed to the public since 1981.

We would like to hear from people who have memories of the BT tower, and want to know how you feel about the news that it is closing and will be transformed into a hotel.

When did you visit and what was the experience like? Did you dine in its revolving restaurant in the 1960s (or during its brief anniversary in 2015?) How was that? How do you feel about its conversion?

We’d also like to hear from people who worked at BT Tower about how they feel about its sale and conversion.
