Recap: Comeback falls short in OKC Blue’s 108-105 loss to Salt Lake City Stars

The G League’s OKC Blue couldn’t complete a 14-point comeback in their 108-105 loss to the Salt Lake City Stars on Wednesday. The road loss drops the Blue’s record to 2-9 on the season.

A late 20-9 run by the Blue helped close the gap, but the closest OKC was to the scoreboard was three points in the final seconds of the contest.

The close affair saw the Stars end the first quarter with a 29-24 advantage. The Blue used a 28-point second quarter to enter halftime tied at 52 apiece.

A 35-point third quarter by the Stars helped create distance on the scoreboard. Entering the final frame, the Blue trailed, 87-79. That deficit quickly ballooned to a game-high 14 points less than five minutes into the fourth quarter.

The Blue shot 43% from the field and went 11-of-37 (29.7%) from 3. They had 26 assists on 41 baskets. Seven players scored double-digit points, including four off of the bench.

Meanwhile, the Stars shot 44% from the field and went 11-of-30 (36.7%) from 3. 23 turnovers by them helped OKC attempt 13 more shots. Salt Lake City had five players score double-digit points, including a pair of 20-point scorers.

Some notable individual performances for both sides:

  • Jahmi’us Ramsey: 26 points on 10-of-21 shooting, 2-of-5 from 3, 13 rebounds, four assists
  • KJ Williams: 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, 2-of-4 from 3, six rebounds
  • Adam Flagler: 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting, 2-of-9 from 3, six rebounds, five assists and three steals
  • Brice Sensabaugh: 28 points on 10-of-16 shooting, 2-of-6 from 3, six rebounds, two assists
  • Taylor Hendricks: 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting, nine rebounds, three steals
  • Michael Devoe: 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting, 2-of-3 from 3, two rebounds
  • Jason Preston: 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting, 1-of-4 from 3, five rebounds, four assists, two steals
