PS Plus March 2023: relive a legendary anime series with the latest Dragon Ball Z title

The PS Plus March 2023 Essential, Extra, and Premium games lineup have finally been released, bringing in a selection of new day one releases and classic titles.

This month's PS Plus offerings are finally out. All three tiers are now available for download including a selection of RPG's, shooters and adventure games.

Headlining PS Plus Extra and Premium this month is Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, an open-world RPG that takes you through the storyline of the legendary Dragon Ball Z anime series. You can relive iconic battles like Goku vs Majin Buu and the incredible Namek saga storyline. Sadly, the recently released PS5 update doesn't seem to be included in the PS Plus Extra version.

The meme generating machine known as Untitled Goose Game joins Extra this month. While the concept of playing as a naughty goose and harassing the English countryside is funny by itself, the game itself is a great hybrid of puzzle and stealth gameplay.

Ghostwire: Tokyo joins PS Plus Extra this month, ahead of the huge new Spider's Thread update on April 12, 2023 . Which, according to the Bethesda blog post, promises new areas, story cutscenes, and the Spider’s Thread gauntlet mode. The game's development team featured the legendary Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami.

PS Plus Essential March 2023 lineup

The PS Plus Essential lineup drops on the first Tuesday of every month. March features some shooting, dungeon crawling and anime as Battlefield 2042, Minecraft Dungeons and Code Vein. Battlefield 2042 launched in a less-than-stellar state, but I’ve heard via word of mouth about the game grow more positive in recent months. Perhaps this is the perfect chance for the game to get a second lease of life like Star Wars Battlefront 2 got when it joined PS Plus in June 2020.

  • Battlefield 2042 (PS5/PS4)
  • Minecraft Dungeons (PS4)
  • Code Vein (PS4)

PS Plus Extra March 2023 lineup

In addition to the aforementioned headliners coming this month, cozy looking indie game Tchia has launched on PS Plus Extra. Announced at last month's PlayStation State of Play, and inspired by New Caledonia, Tchia follows a young girl as she does her best Super Mario Odyssey impression and possesses a host of animals and inanimate objects in her adventure to find her father.

  • Ghostwire Tokyo (PS5)
  • Tchia (PS5 / PS4)
  • Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (PS5)
  • Immortals Fenyx Rising (PS5 / PS4)
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction (PS5/PS4)
  • Life is Strange 2 (PS4)
  • Life is Strange: True Colors (PS5 / PS4)
  • Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (PS4)
  • Street Fighter V Champion Edition (PS4)
  • Untitled Goose Game (PS4)
  • Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (PS4)
  • Rage 2 (PS4)
  • Neo: The World Ends with You (PS4)
  • Haven (PS5 / PS4)

PS Plus Premium March 2023 lineup

After a surprisingly strong lineup of classic games for February we're back to an underwhelming selection for PS Plus Premium this month. From the PS1 we have R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 – a solid racer but not one that's too exciting considering Ridge Racer 2 is already on the service.

We also have a PSP double bill with Sony's obsession with adding all of the Syphon Filter games to PS Plus Premium continuing with Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror coming this month. There's also Ape Academy 2, the weird card / party game spinoff of Ape Escape which – considering we haven't even got all of the real Ape Escape games on the service – is a bit of a dull option.

All three of these games are available on PS5 and PS4 for PS Plus Premium subscribers and are also able to be purchased separately.

  • R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 (PS1)
  • Ape Academy 2 (PSP)
  • Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror (PSP)

Games leaving PS Plus in March 2023

The PS Plus February 2023 lineup of PS Plus Essential games including OlliOlli World and Destiny 2: Beyond Light left last week. But, you can still pick up the PS Plus Extra February 2023 games for now. These select titles have sadly left the service this month.

  • Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame 5 (PS4/PS5)
  • WWE 2K22 (PS4)
  • Victor Vran Overkill Edition (PS4)
  • Velocibox (PS4)
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (PS4)
  • Override 2: Super Mech League (PS5)
  • Ghost of a Tale (PS4)
  • Dungeons (PS4)
  • Danger Zone (PS4)
