Mykhailo Mudryk sends message to Chelsea fans after season ended by suspected concussion

Mykhailo Mudryk has ruled himself out of Chelsea’s final match of the season at home to Bournemouth.

The 22-year-old winger suffered a suspected concussion in a collision with Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey in the 2-1 win at the Amex Stadium on Wednesday night.

Christopher Nkunku replaced Mudryk in the 42nd minute and scored in the second-half, after Cole Palmer had earlier opened the scoring.

Mudryk confirmed on his Instagram account that he had been ruled out of Sunday’s match against the Cherries at Stamford Bridge.

He posted: "Unfortunately, the season for me is over. Thank you for all your messages, I feel better. See you next season, Blues. It’s part of the game."

Reece James was sent off for kicking out at Joao Pedro in the dying minutes against Brighton and will serve a four-match ban.

The club captain will miss the match against Bournemouth and also the first three games of next season, with an extra game added to his suspension due to his dismissal early in the season at Newcastle.

Otherwise, Mauricio Pochettino has almost a full squad at his disposal for the final day, after Ben Chilwell returned as an unused substitute on Wednesday. Carney Chukwuemeka is nearing his return to action.

It leaves Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, Robert Sanchez and Wesley Fofana as the only players still on the sidelines with injury.
