Meghan Markle has performed a "vanishing act" with the normally limelight-hungry Duchess's absence from the spotlight being questioned among US society.
But Prince Harry's wife has merely taken a step back to "plan, parent and regroup" a royal expert has said - and is already eying her next move.
The Duchess of Sussex has been notably absent from events this year, including Prince Harry's promotional tour for his memoir, Spare.
On Wednesday it was confirmed she would not be at the King's Coronation next month with reports suggesting she will stay in California to look after Archie and Lilibet.
The Coronation will fall on the same day as Archie's fourth birthday.
Apart from releasing official photos in March of a trip to Los Angeles to support a charity supporting homeless pregnant women, Meghan's performed her very own vanishing act.
But it leaves many asking, what is she up to?
Royal expert and former royal correspondent, Gordon Rayner, writes in The Telegraph: "The answer, it seems, can be summed up in three words: planning, parenting and regrouping."
Friends have said she sees her future based in the US and that public events in Britain will take a back seat.
Since she and Harry stepped down as working members of the Royal family in 2020 she has only crossed the pond three times.
Rumours have surfaced that she may write a book, as part of Harry's multi-volume deal with Penguin Random House, but it is reported she will more likely take her own steps in TV, podcasting and blogging.
During her acting career she set up a lifestyle blog called The Tig, something she described as “a really successful business”.
Mr Rayner says Meghan "grieves" for The Tig, which she had to give up when she entered royal life.
But now, unrestrained by The Firm, last month a patent application to revive the website was given preliminary approval by US authorities.
So fans should expect to see a coming wave of content “in the fields of food, cooking, recipes, travel, fashion, style, lifestyle, the arts, culture, design, conscious living, and health and wellness”, as well as “commentary on the field of personal relationships”.
While her broadcasting efforts are handled under the couple's Archewell brand, The Tig is owned by Meghan's Delaware-based company, Frim Fram, which is run from Los Angeles by her business manager, Andrew Meyer.
Meanwhile, back at Archewell, reports suggest Harry and Meghan are looking to branch out into fiction productions.
They are said to be hiring writers to develop ideas for romantic comedies and other positive programmes, after having been paid tens of millions by Netflix and Harry's book publisher.
There have been reported staff changes in the organisation, which reportedly includes the upcoming departure of internal content head Ben Browning.
This comes after the six-hour Netflix reality TV show Harry & Meghan, about the couple's life and break away from the royals.
Meghan might yet also return to host a second series of her Spotify podcast, Archetypes.
The couple will need to keep earning millions to fund their lifestyle and the multi-million pound security bill.
And rumours won't go away about Meghan's suspected long-term ambition of moving into politics.

Daily Mail Diary Editor and royal expert Richard Eden made the comments after it was announced Meghan would not be attending the King's coronation.
It is said that Archie's fourth birthday - which falls on the same day - has been a factor in Meghan's decision to remain at home with her children. It is expected that Harry will only make a whistle stop trip to the UK.
Mr Eden wrote: "It appears to mark the complete estrangement of Meghan from her husband’s family as well as from her own, with the one exception of her mother, Doria.
"I can say with some confidence that Meghan will not be missed by the royals."
