Man rushed to hospital in Edinburgh after 'stabbing' on residential street

A man has been rushed to hospital following an alleged 'stabbing' in Edinburgh.

Emergency services scrambled to Albert Street in the Leith area of the capital after the alarm was raised at around 2.20pm on Tuesday. Several police cars were seen racing to the scene alongside ambulance crews.

A 30-year-old man was found seriously injured on the residential street. The man was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, where he currently remains. His condition is unknown.

Shocked eyewitnesses told Edinburgh Live that police were responding to reports of a 'stabbing'.

One person said: "I overheard the word 'stabbing' on the police radio and I asked one of the policemen there, I think he was an inspector, and he said it was a stabbing."

A 'small tent' was erected on the street outside a tenement building and an eyewitness reportedly saw blood on the pavement.
