MAFS UK's Matt Murray and former contestant Marilyse Corrigan spark romance rumours as they jet off together

Married At First Sight UK star Matt Murray has sparked romance rumours with MAFS UK 2021 contestant Marilyse Corrigan.

The 32 year old caused a bit of chaos on the show when he decided to end his marriage with Gemma Rose after realising he had feelings for Whitney Hughes.

The tattooed barber and PA Whitney, 31, hit it off immediately and said their connection was strong as they left the experiment, dumping their partners, and returned as a dating couple after permission from the experts. Despite saying 'I love you' after just a week of dating, Matt and Whitney's romance wasn't to last as it was revealed their relationship had ended as they reunited with the cast.

As they sat down with the experts, the pair left the door open for the potential for their romance to reignite but Matt withdrew from the rest of filming after his couch session with Whitney. Since the series came to an end, Matt jetted off to Turkey with 2021 MAFS UK star Marilyse, 38, sparking speculation the pair were romantically involved.

A TV insider claimed to The Sun Matt and Marilyse were in a "secret romance". However, a representative for the Married At First Sight stars has insisted to the Mirror that the pair are just friends – with Marilyse supporting Matt following his time on the show.

A spokesperson said: "Marilyse has gone to recover from a marathon which she ran for Kidney Research recently and she’s celebrating with her son that it's a year since donating her kidney to save his dad’s life." They added: "Matt has gone to recover from the trauma of the show, as you’ll have seen last night it’s taken a toll on his emotional well-being.

"Marilyse knows oh too well how the public reaction can impact the mental health of the men on the show as she saw how it impacted Franky. So she’s being nothing more than a supportive friend to him whilst other friends from the show are filming the Christmas reunion."

It comes after Marilyse defended Matt shortly after he was seen ending his romance with Gemma during a heated dinner party. In an exclusive chat with the Mirror, the personal trainer explained: "I know he's not coming across great on the TV but I do really like him.

"I think he's got a soft side and is very to down to earth and he's a Yorkshire guy as well!" Last year, Marilyse was matched with Franky Spencer, who became a controversial figure on the series, who was labelled 'controlling' by viewers.

Their marriage wasn't to last but the pair remained friends following their time on the experiment. Following backlash over Franky's behaviour on the show, Marilyse insisted to the Express: "The reaction from the public was just insane, I was receiving messages after messages from women on Instagram saying to me like 'please leave him' and 'my ex was like this' and it was really awful to be honest.

"I appreciate the women who cared about the situation but at the same time, I did feel really, really bad for Franky. He's a really harmless guy and it was edited for him to look the way he looked."
