Liverpool ratings vs Crystal Palace: Mohamed Salah ineffective as Curtis Jones misses golden chances

Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes suffered an almighty blow as Crystal Palace earned a stunning 1-0 win at Anfield.

Eberechi Eze scored the game’s only goal after just 14 minutes as he converted smartly from Tyrick Mitchell’s cross.

In a game of missed chances from both sides, Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz were guilty of missing clear-cut chances as Liverpool handed Arsenal and Manchester City a boost in their respective title charges.

Dom Smith was at Anfield to rate the Liverpool players’ performances…

Alisson 6

Could do nothing about Eze’s opener and otherwise had a quiet afternoon as Palace created chances but misfired.

Conor Bradley 6

Did well in the first half but was replaced with a bad-looking injury just after half-time.

Ibrahima Konate 5

Had a decent chance when he headed over in the first half. Too lethargic in possession.

Virgil van Dijk 6

Mopped up loose balls well and was composed.

Andrew Robertson 7

Busy down the left all game, crossing into Liverpool’s front three and nicking the ball back off Palace when his team-mates had lost it.

Alexis Mac Allister 6

Shows every match he plays just how good he is at getting out of tight spaces, but this was a quiet afternoon from him.

Wataru Endo 5

Hit the bar from a corner with Liverpool’s one glorious chance of the first half. Hooked at the break.

Curtis Jones 4

Lost the ball too often. Missed two golden chances in the second half.

Mohamed Salah 5

An ineffectual display from a man who so often comes up big when the Reds most need him.

Darwin Nunez 5

Should have scored from a corner when Henderson blocked his volley. Otherwise quiet.

Luis Diaz 6

A couple of lung-busting runs showed he was up for the fight. No end product though.

Subs:

Dominik Szoboszlai (Endo, 46’) 5

Achieved very little in the second half.

Cody Gakpo (Diaz, 66’) 5

Barely saw the ball.

Diogo Jota (Nunez, 66’) 5

Like Gakpo, hardly had a look in.

Harvey Elliott (Jones, 82’) N/A

Not used: Kelleher, Quansah, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Gravenberch
