Jordan Pickford and Tony Bellew accept golf challenge ahead of The Open 2023 at Royal Liverpool

Jordan Pickford is one of 12 well-known figures who will be competing at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club this Sunday ahead of next week's Open Championship.

The Open will begin on July 20 and sees the biggest names in the world of golf travel to Hoylake for a shot at claiming the final major on offer in 2023.

Prior to the main event taking place, a handful of celebrity names and sporting figures will try their luck at taking on the iconic course. Among those will be Everton goalkeeper, Pickford, who is due to feature in his first pre-season fixture on Friday when Sean Dyche's side play Stade Nyonnais.

Also set to feature is retired boxer Tony Bellew, who previously went head-to-head with Jamie Carragher in a golfing challenge prior to the 146th Open at Royal Birkdale in Southport. Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas, NFL Super Bowl Champion Victor Cruz and Indian cricket icon Yuvraj Singh are the other sporting stars due to participate.

The 12 players will be divided into three teams of four and will face off on the back nine holes of Royal Liverpool in a traditional team scramble format. A closest to the pin challenge on the brand new 17th hole will take place, followed by a longest drive competition down the 18th.
