Jensen Ackles Pays Tribute To Dean Winchester On Tracker Debut

Ackles' Tracker character, Russell, nods to Supernatural with a playful Impala pat.

Jensen Ackles paid tribute to his iconic Supernatural character, Dean Winchester, during his debut on Tracker. In a recent episode of the CBS series, Ackles' character, Russell, reunited with his estranged brother, Colter, played by Justin Hartley. The episode featured a subtle nod to Supernatural as Russell playfully patted a Chevrolet Impala, reminiscent of Dean Winchester's beloved car 'Baby' from the show.

Before his role on Tracker, Ackles gained fame portraying Dean Winchester on The CW's Supernatural alongside Jared Padalecki. The Impala, a key element in Supernatural, was passed down to Dean from his father and became an integral part of the Winchester brothers' monster-hunting adventures.

Following the end of Supernatural, Ackles took the Impala with him, fulfilling a long-standing desire. He even had a clause in his contract allowing him to drive the car home. Ackles continued his success post-Supernatural with guest roles in various projects and a directorial stint on Walker, where he reunited with Padalecki.

Now, Ackles is set to play a significant role on Tracker, with viewers gradually learning about Colter and Russell's complex relationship. The first season hinted at unresolved issues between the brothers, including suspicions surrounding their father's death. As the investigation unfolds, the storyline delves into Special Forces missions, off-the-books programs, and conspiracy theories, with Russell's character bearing similarities to Dean Winchester.

Fans can look forward to seeing more of Ackles in season 2 of Tracker, as confirmed by Hartley. Ackles' portrayal of Russell Shaw has been praised for his dynamic performance opposite Hartley's character, Colter.

Tracker airs on CBS on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET, with new episodes available for streaming on Paramount+ the following day.
