Israel Provides Aid To Gaza Despite Ongoing Tensions

Scenes of destruction in Gaza amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas

No aid has entered through Gaza's southern crossings in two days, the World Food Programme said Thursday, as fears grow that Israel's movements in Rafah will further stifle efforts to get food into the enclave.

The Palestine director of the WFP mentioned that their main warehouse is now inaccessible, and no aid has entered from the southern crossings in the past two days. This situation has raised concerns as thousands of people are on the move, and only one bakery is still operational. The limited supplies of food and fuel in Gaza are projected to last only 1-3 days, potentially leading to a standstill in operations.

However, Israel has disputed these claims, stating that aid has been successfully reaching Gazans. The Israeli agency responsible for approving humanitarian aid passage into Gaza, COGAT, confirmed that the Kerem Shalom crossing was open after being closed for several days, along with the Erez crossing in the north.

Later on Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces reported that dozens of humanitarian aid trucks entered Gaza via the Kerem Shalom Crossing. The IDF emphasized that despite ongoing rocket fire from Hamas towards the area, Israel continues to keep the crossing open to ensure a constant flow of aid to civilians.
