Muireann O'Connell shared a hilarious blunder with her fans as she revealed she had 'drunk purchased' a dress for an awards show.

The Ireland AM presenter, 40, is well-known for sharing her style on Instagram but didn't hold back as she let her followers in on a fashion mishap.

She modelled the online purchase after it arrived, admitting that she had bought the 'revealing dress' after having a few drinks.

The figure-hugging red dress featured a plunging neckline along with a low back and a high slit up the front.

Muireann shared a snap of the packaging on her Instagram story as she wrote: "Ok... I forgot I went drunk shopping for the @vip.ireland style awards."

She then tried on the €263 dress from Revolve as she joked that this was something that she would never have bought sober.

Muireann said: "And when I say I bought a revealing dress... What? Someone wouldn't wear a bikini like this, it's down to me fecking a**e!"

She added: "This is who I think I am when I'm drunk, and I'm not. This is drunk me. What was I thinking?"

Muireann continued joking: "So it's either giving mid-aged Love Island or you know that viral thing that is going around [in] dresses [as] if you are on Selling Sunset for your normal job."

The VIP Style Awards take on Friday, May 26, and Muireann is nominated in the 'Most Stylish Woman' category.
