In pictures: Pro-Palestine protesters march through Edinburgh in call for ceasefire

PRO-PALESTINE protesters took to the streets of Edinburgh on Saturday to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

More than 35,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel’s bombardment of Gaza started after Hamas’ attacks on October 7.

A demonstration also took place in London with organisers saying there was around 25,000 people present.

Protesters in Edinburgh held up signs saying “what if they were your children” and “stop the massacre”.

Israel has been operating a military campaign in the Gaza Strip’s southern city of Rafah, where it says it has intelligence that hostages are being held.

Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to both eliminate Hamas and bring all the hostages back.

The protests come after Israel accused South Africa of distorting reality in its attempt to get the UN’s top court to force it to stop its military campaign in Rafah.

The International Court of Justice began two days of hearings on Thursday, when South Africa told the court Israel intended to “wipe (the Palestinians) off the face of the earth”.

However, delivering its response, Israel’s deputy attorney general Gilad Noam said this was an inversion of reality.
