How To Recreate the Stunning Beauty Looks from the 2024 Met Gala

As per usual, the 2024 Met Gala beauty looks were just as spectacular as the ensembles. Many of them nodded to "The Garden of Time" theme with floral touches. Some hairstylists and makeup artists kept hair and makeup restrained in order to not fight with the outfits. Others decided to go grand all over.

Upon first look, you probably assumed that there's no way you can attempt to replicate these makeup and hairstyles IRL. But you'd be wrong. There are several that are surprisingly easy to do in the comfort of your own home. So we went ahead and rounded up step-by-step guides on how to easily achieve the best 2024 Met Gala beauty looks.

Celebrity hairstylist Richard Grant was the mastermind behind Mindy Kaling's sleek bob at the gala. Since her sculptural Gaurav Gupta gown was a real scene-stealer, Grant didn't want the hair to try and compete. He exclusively shared with Fashion Times that the whole process took three hours and "this look would be extremely easy to replicate" as long as you know what products to use. Fortunately, we do.

Grant began by prepping the hair with two to three pumps of Tresemme Keratin Smooth Weightless Leave in Conditioner, distributing it throughout the hair. Then he made sure to double up on the Tresemme Heat Protectant Spray for 5-in-1 Anti-Frizz Control Keratin Smooth with Marula Oil focusing on the mid-shaft ends for a smooth brush out and detangling. Next, the Tresemme Heat Protectant spray was layered all over the hair to help prevent breakage and tame frizz. Grant added Tresemme Extra Hold Hair Mousse, brushing through everything so that the products were evenly distributed before finishing with the smooth weightless serum on the mid-shaft and ends while staying away from the root area.

Next, it was time to break out the blowdryer. Grant sectioned hair off using the Auto-Wrap Curlers attachment of the new Shark FlexStyle Sparkle Air Styling & Drying System in Black Diamond to create as much volume as possible while hydrating strands. Then he worked in horizontal lines moving up from the nape, spraying each section with Tresemme Keratin Smooth Weightless Silky Shine Hair Spray setting the hair in hair clips. Grant went back to the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Weightless Silky Shine Hair Spray and layered it with Tresemme Extra Hold Hairspray so the hairstyle would last two to three hours. Grant rounded out the lovely look with the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Weightless Anti-Frizz Finishing Spray for any flyaways or frizz. He also used the Curl-Defining Diffuser attachment of the Shark FlexStyle in Black Diamond to lock the hairstyle in place.

Jennifer Lopez's top knot was elegance personified. Celebrity hairstylist Lorenzo Martin created the chic look by applying the Tresemme Mousse Keratin Smooth Hydrating Hair Treatment to Lopez's roots while her hair was still wet. Then Martin started rough drying with the Styling Concentrator attachment of the new, fast and powerful Shark FlexStyle Sparkle Air Styling & Drying System in Black Diamond, drying until damp. Next, he grabbed small sections and wrapped the hair around the 1.25" Auto-Wrap Curler attachments to add texture. Martin mixed a dime-size amount of Tresemme Weightless Silk Serum, Tresemme Freeze Hold Hairspray and Tresemme Mega Control Hair Gel together and ran it throughout Lopez's locks.

Martin snatched a high pony using Tangle Teezer The Ultimate Styler Hairbrush to tame all the hair. Then he teased the ponytail with Tangle Teezer The Ultimate Teaser Backcombing Hairbrush to make hair look messy, then secured with a brown medium hair elastic at the top of her head. For the last wrap, he pulled the hair halfway through, creating a loop before pinning the loop above the crown with a large bobby pin. Martin secured any extra hair loosely into the bun before a final spray of Tresemme Extra Hold Hair Spray to complete the look.

Elle Fanning

Makeup artist Erin Ayanian-Monroe for L'Oréal Paris was "inspired by the organic, glistening quality of Elle's incredible Balmain dress and wanted her skin to have that same glistening quality with a little romantic cloud around the eye and a flushed, luminized lip." So she started by prepping Fanning's skin with Revitalift Derm Intensives 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum and a light application of Revitalift Derm Intensives Micro Hyaluronic Acid + Ceramides Line-Plumping Water Cream. Next came a light wash of True Match Super Blendable Foundation in Neutral Light with True Match Radiant Serum Concealer 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid + Caffeine and True Match Super Blendable Blush in Tender Rose under True Match Lumi Glotion in shade 901 to give her skin that luminous glow. True Match Lumi Glotion was also used all over her arms, décolleté and back. Panorama Voluminous Mascara in Black was applied on the top and the bottom eyelashes. Finally, her lips were coated with Colour Riche Satin Lipstick in Blushing Berry and Silverstone.

On the hair front, hairstylist for L'Oréal Paris Jenda Alcorn wanted to echo the crystalline quality of Fanning's gown "in the shine and natural texture of her hair." Alcorn began by prepping Fanning's hair with the EverPure Purple Shampoo & Conditioner to make her blond highlights more platinum. Then she combed the hair out with EverPure Sulfate-Free 21-in-1 Color Caring Spray, layering Elvive Dream Lengths Frizz Killer Serum Leave-In on top to control her natural wave and up the shine. Finally, Alcorn sprayed Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray Unscented to set the look.

Kelsea Ballerini

Naturally, CoverGirl ambassador Kelsea Ballerini rocked CoverGirl products to this year's Met Gala. Makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan used an unreleased mascara, the CoverGirl Eye Enhancer Mascara in Intense Black, which launches May 15. She also applied CoverGirl Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence in shade 40 Medium to the entire face. When it came to eyeshadow, she wanted to pull the peach and coral tones from the flowers in Ballerini's dress and also add "a pop of lavender." So she used the lavender shade from the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Clean Color 242 Mellow Mauve Eyeshadow Palette in the inner corner of the eye toward the eyelid and below the bottom lash line. To create shape and drama, a smaller tapered eyeshadow brush was used and a mixture of the first matte copper shade and the last sparkling copper shade from the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Color 252 Spiced Copper Eyeshadow Palette were softly applied to the outer corner of the eye. For the lips, CoverGirl Exhibitionist Crème Lipstick in 485 Coral Dreams supplied a beautiful, light coral. It was topped with CoverGirl's Yummy Gloss in 550 My Main Squeeze for extra shine.

Hairstylist Peter Lux depended on Pantene to craft Ballerini's Met Gala hairdo. He first washed her hair with Pantene's Miracle Bond Repair Shampoo and Miracle Rescue Deep Repair Conditioner With Pro-V Melting Pearls. Then he generously sprayed Pantene's new Pro-Vitamin Repair Essence from root to tip to help reduce breakage and build strength. After towel drying her hair, Pantene Pro-V Volume and Body Anti Frizz Hair Mousse was applied while still damp. Then Ballerini's mane was blowdried using a large round brush for shine. He added a touch of texture by "gently bending a soft wave into large sections of hair over a medium curling iron." Then he created the soft, wet-looking waves with Pantene Flexible Hold Alcohol Free Hairspray. He gathered the hair in two loose ponytails at the back of the head just above the roundest part of the head. Splitting each into two sections, he rope twisted and held the ends together with a small clear elastic. Next, he wrapped each twist around its own ponytail base securing with pins. He decorated the hair with complementary silk flowers followed by a soft wave into the front section of hair with a large curling iron. Pantene Flexible Hold Alcohol Free Hairspray was sprayed to create a slightly wet-looking texture.

Zendaya

Zendaya served two amazing looks at this year's gala. For her first look, hairstylist Ursula Stephen created the amazing updo with Dyson and Living Proof products. After shampooing, Stephen added the Living Proof Triple Bond Complex. Then she dried the hair using the Dyson Supersonic r Professional Hairdryer at high heat and high air flow settings. Once the hair was dry, she worked in Living Proof's 5-in-1 Styling Treatment. Next, Zendaya's locks were gathered into a sleek, low bun and secured with a hair tie, then she twisted and pinned the hair into a beautiful shape inspired by a calla lily. She fussed up the top layer of hair separating it from the rest of the hair, then used the Dyson Corrale hair styler straightener at low heat settings to curl flyaways and create an angelic finish. Stephen finished things off with the Living Proof Flex Hairspray.
