Former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has been transferred back to Rikers Island jail in New York City following a 10-day stay at Bellevue Hospital. This move came after reports surfaced alleging that Weinstein was receiving VIP treatment during his hospitalization.

A publicist for Weinstein denied these claims, stating that he was not given preferential treatment and was housed in a standard inmate floor at the hospital. Weinstein was initially taken to Bellevue for medical care after being transferred from Mohawk Correctional Facility to Rikers Island.

Weinstein's conviction in New York was vacated by the Court of Appeals due to procedural errors, leading to the possibility of a new trial. However, he remains incarcerated as he was convicted in Los Angeles in 2022 on separate charges.

While awaiting a potential retrial in New York, Weinstein has been dealing with health issues, including pneumonia and heart problems. His spokesperson mentioned that Weinstein was disappointed to return to Rikers but appreciated the care he received at Bellevue.

Weinstein's legal team has expressed confidence in the medical staff's decisions regarding his health and safety. Despite the recent legal developments, Weinstein is aware of the lengthy legal process ahead of him.

Overall, Weinstein's spirits are said to be up, but he understands the challenges he faces in the coming months and years.
