Michael Conner Humphreys looks unrecognisable after joining the army, much like his character in the hit movie, Forrest Gump.
The 38-year-old starred in the film when he was just eight, as a younger version of Tom Hanks' character. He performed in the iconic scene where Forrest's love interest Jenny shouts: "Run Forrest, run!"
The 1994 film followed a man with low IQ who recalls the early years of his life before he’s reunited with his childhood sweetheart.
Tom Hanks played Forrest, but at the time he was 37-years-old, so obviously a child actor had to play the protagonist during his flashback scenes when Forrest lived in Alabama in the 1950s which was a major part of the film’s storyline.
The film which won 13 Oscars in 1995 and starred Michael, Tom and other Hollywood actors like Robin Wright, who played an older Jenny and Sally Field, who played Forrest's mother.
Ten years after his Forrest Gump role, Michael enlisted in the US Army, completing his service four years later in 2008. Speaking to Paul Leslie on The Paul Leslie Hour back in 2020 he addressed his acting career and his time in the military.
He admitted he was “already interested in military technology when he was a kid” and loved “aircrafts, ships, tanks and all that stuff."
“Then doing Forrest Gump, I had some direct contact with [the] marines. They took me to the marine base and let me tour an F18 fighter jet and everything.
Michael continued: "They let me play around with that stuff as a kid, that got my interest a little more peaked."
He also revealed that he “has family who have been in the military,” including his father and his uncle.
It comes after Tom acknowledged that Forrest Gump could not be made today as he played a man with disabilities, and despite being a "timely movie at the time, you might not be able to make now".
