Flight attendant hailed a hero for soothing a crying baby that no-one could calm

A flight attendant has been hailed a hero by fliers after she soothed a young baby who was inconsolable on a plane.

A four-and-a-half hour internal flight across China turned into a battle of nerves, with the baby boy unable to be calmed, even by his parents.

But when this attendant - on the flight to Chengdu from Jilin Province - stepped in, the passengers did not hear another peep out of him.

Video footage - later shared on Douyin, China's TokTok - shows her taking the baby on a tour of the aircraft before settling him onto her lap while she stroked his cheek.

Then she asked other crew members to step in and help distract him with a shiny red apple.

Social media users urged that her astonishing parenting skills should become standard on flights to help struggling parents and fellow passengers.

One said: "The maternal instincts of this pretty stewardess are really brilliant."

The child was so relaxed at the end of it they fell asleep and when they woke up continued to be peaceful to the amazement of his mother and other passengers.

At the end of December, a member of flight staff on an IndiGo plane from Istanbul to Delhi was far less helpful.

She screamed "I am not your servant" at an angry passenger in a blazing row over in-flight meals.

The incident left a member of staff "crying", reports say.

A video, filmed on December 16, shows the air hostess and passenger yelling at one another.

It is understood the man had pre-booked a sandwich, but later requested a different meal which did not appear to be available, leading to tensions becoming heated.

A row then ensued, in which the air hostess shouted: "You are pointing fingers at me and yelling at me. My crew is crying because of you!

"Please try to understand, there is a cart and counted meals [...] we can only serve what you ordered."

The disgruntled passenger shouted back "why are you yelling?" - to which the crew member responds "because you are yelling!"

Another crew member then holds her by the arms in an attempt to diffuse the situation.

The air hostess continues: "I am peacefully listening to you with all due respect - but you have to respect the crew as well."

In a more sinister incident, an EasyJet passenger grabbed a stewardess by the neck after swigging "three quarters of a bottle of whiskey".

An Easyjet passenger who grabbed a stewardess by the neck after swigging "three quarters of a bottle of whiskey" has been jailed.

Colin Smith, 51, who was flying from Manchester to Malta with his partner, has now been jailed after an assault that began with him being asked to sit down and put his seatbelt on.

The stewardess warned him to sit back down but was met with a ‘vacant stare’ before Smith grabbed her by the neck, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

He tried to lash out again but in an effort to protect herself the Easyjet worker pushed him back and Smith fell into the laps of two seated passengers before he was restrained.

The stewardess asked his partner if he had any health concerns, to which she replied: “I told him not to drink that whisky”.
