Fatal Tesla Crash In Pasadena Claims Three Lives

A Volkswagen ID.5 electric car at a car dealer in Reze

Early Saturday morning in Pasadena, California, a fatal single-vehicle crash involving a Tesla Model 3 resulted in the deaths of the driver and two passengers, while three other passengers sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when the Tesla, carrying a total of six individuals, was traveling at a high speed in a 35-mph zone.

Lt. Anthony Russo of the Pasadena Police Department reported that the driver failed to negotiate a slight curve, causing the vehicle to strike a curb, go airborne, hit a power pole, and crash into a building. Tragically, three passengers were ejected from the back seat during the collision, with the driver and two passengers succumbing to their injuries at the scene.

The victims, comprising four males and two females aged between 17 and 22, have not been identified pending family notification. Authorities are investigating the crash to determine if intoxication played a role, and are examining data recorded by the Tesla at the time of the incident.

Witness Nicholas Fernandez described the aftermath of the crash, noting that three ejected victims were in the street alongside downed power lines. The collision resulted in power outages for over 500 homes and businesses in the area, though electricity has since been restored.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and adherence to speed limits, particularly during late-night hours. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those affected by this devastating crash.
