East Lothian business forced to close after late night break-in

A business in East Lothian has had to cancel all of their appointments after they were broken into during the early hours of the morning.

Sunshine Tanning Studio have released a statement on their Facebook saying that police and forensics were examining the scene.

As a result the store has been forced to close whilst an investigation is carried out.

The incident is understood to have taken place at around 4.45am on Saturday July 8 on Bridge Street, Tranent.

Business owners shared on social media that a window had been smashed and that damage had been caused at the studio.

Posting to their Facebook page, they said: “Attention all customers,

“Our shop was broken into last night, our window has been smashed and there has been some damage.

“Police and forensics are at the shop, so it is closed off.

“Due to this all bookings are cancelled and we unfortunately can’t access our computer to contact anyone direct as we are not allowed to enter the shop, so please understand.

“The shop will be closed until further notice.

“Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.45am on Saturday, 8 July, 2023, officers received a report of a break-in at a premises on Bridge Street, Tranent.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
