Brisbane will need a win at the AFL tribunal to have star small forward Charlie Cameron available for their key AFL home game against Geelong.

Cameron faces a one-game suspension for his dump tackle on Melbourne defender Jake Lever in the first term of Thursday night's upset win over the Demons at the MCG.

Lever appeared stunned briefly after Cameron slung him to the ground and the Lions goalsneak gave up a free kick.

Cameron was also charged with rough conduct on Friday, with the incident graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

Lever played out the game, but his head hit the ground in the tackle.

Cameron and Lever are former teammates at Adelaide, playing in the Crows' 2017 grand final loss to Richmond.

While Cameron has had a quiet start to the season, he has been more prominent in Brisbane's account-opening wins against North Melbourne and the Demons.

He kicked three goals on Thursday night and went close to a bag of five, with another two shots through the middle ruled touched on score review.

After starting the season with three losses, the Lions are in the midst of a crucial series of games against top sides.

Their next two opponents, the Cats and GWS, boasted 4-0 records ahead of round five.
