Caroline Dubois eager for major world championship fight, challenges top contenders

Caroline Dubois did not turn down a fight with Rhiannon Dixon

In the world of boxing, Caroline Dubois has been making headlines recently. The lightweight fighter has been vocal about her desire to compete for one of the major world championships. Last month, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) mandated a fight between Dubois and Rhiannon Dixon for their now vacant lightweight world championship. However, the highly anticipated bout failed to materialize.

Dubois has been quick to clarify that she did not turn down the fight with Dixon, placing the blame on her opponent for the collapse of their proposed matchup. She expressed her shock at Dixon's team's alleged reluctance to fight, stating, 'From what we've heard of her team is that she never wanted to fight. I was shocked when the offer came out, and we accepted it so fast.'

Asserting her eagerness to prove herself in the ring, Dubois emphasized that she accepted the fight offer promptly, only to have Dixon pull out, suggesting that it was a mere ploy to distract her. Despite the disappointment, Dubois remains determined and focused on her goals.

Dixon has since moved on and will face Karen Carabajal for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) world title in April. Dubois, however, believes that Dixon chose the easier path by opting to fight Carabajal instead. She admits that it will still be a tough fight for Dixon and acknowledges that a victory would earn her respect, but she remains unsure of Dixon's true abilities.

Dubois's ambition is evident as she names some of the top contenders in the 135lbs lightweight division, including world-renowned fighters like Katie Taylor, Beatriz Ferreira, and Karen Carabajal. With multiple sanctioning bodies ranking her highly, Dubois aims to take on the best in the division and prove her supremacy.

Her sights are set on the World Boxing Council (WBC) belt, where she is also the No. 1 ranked contender. Pursuing this title would put her on a potential collision course with Katie Taylor, the Irish superstar who still holds the WBC 135lb belt after vacating her IBF and WBO titles.

Dubois admits that she has several options ahead of her and will carefully consider each one. Her ultimate goal is clear - she wants the big fight, the biggest fight. With her talent, determination, and hunger for success, there's no doubt that Caroline Dubois is a force to be reckoned with in the boxing world.
