Cal Poly Humboldt Campus Closed And Moved To Remote Format

Cal Poly Humboldt university

The California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt campus has announced that it will be closed and move to a remote format until the end of the semester. This decision comes in response to the continued occupation of at least two campus buildings by protesters.

According to a statement released on Friday, the campus will be closed through May 10, with all work and academic instruction transitioning to a remote setting. The protesters have been occupying Siemens Hall and Nelson Hall East, and have made multiple attempts to break into locked buildings.

School officials had previously indicated that the campus would remain closed over the weekend, and the decision to extend the closure was under consideration. Demonstrators were given until 5 p.m. on Friday to vacate the premises with a guarantee of no immediate arrest.

Source has reached out to the university for further comment on the situation. Cal Poly Humboldt, a public university located in Arcata, California, approximately 275 miles north of San Francisco, is facing this disruption to its normal operations due to the ongoing protests.
