Authorities Searching For Boater Who Fatally Struck 15-Year-Old

Funeral of 11-year-old Palestinian who was killed in an Israeli raid, near Nablus

Authorities are currently on the lookout for a boater who was involved in a fatal incident that took the life of 15-year-old Ella Riley Adler in South Florida. The incident occurred while Ella was water skiing off Key Biscayne near Nixon Beach at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. She was struck by a center console boat with a light blue hull that fled the scene, as reported by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

Ella, who was wearing a life vest and ski boards on her feet, was celebrating a friend's birthday on a family boat when the tragic collision occurred. First responders noted the severity of the situation, mentioning 'a lot of blood in the water.'

FWC officers are actively searching for the boat's captain, who was last seen traveling westbound from Nixon Beach. The boat in question is described as having multiple white outboard motors and possibly blue or dark blue bottom paint.

Authorities have announced a total reward of up to $20,000 for any information leading to the identification of the vessel and the boater involved in the crash, with Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers offering $5,000 of the reward. Witnesses are urged to come forward to the FWC with any relevant details.

Ella Riley Adler, a student at Ransom Everglades School and a member of its dance team, was remembered fondly by her family and friends. Described as a vibrant and beloved individual, Ella's passion for dance and her Jewish heritage were central to her identity. Her family highlighted her lineage of Jewish leaders and her deep connection to Israel.

Friends and classmates shared heartfelt tributes to Ella, recalling her infectious joy, unwavering support, and genuine nature. The impact she had on those around her, both in school and within the dance community, was profound.

In response to the tragic loss, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levina Cava expressed condolences to the Adler family and emphasized the importance of boat safety to prevent similar incidents in the future.
