Allies Of Trump Criticize NY V. Trump Trial As Sham

Donald Trump Republican presidential candidates speak in Florida

Allies of former President Donald Trump, including former 2024 presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy and Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, have strongly criticized the ongoing NY v. Trump trial, labeling it as a 'sham' orchestrated by Democrats in anticipation of the 2024 election.

Ramaswamy, who was present at the New York courthouse, expressed his dismay at the proceedings, describing the environment as 'depressing' and likening it to a scene from a Kafka novel. He accused the prosecution of attempting to bore the jurors into submission and suggested that their tactics were working, labeling the case as 'politicized persecution.'

Furthermore, Ramaswamy highlighted a key premise of the case brought by Alvin Bragg, stating that it hinges on the notion that Trump should have used campaign funds for a personal payment. He argued that even if Trump had followed this course of action, it would have only strengthened the case against him, deeming the entire case as 'garbage' and a 'sham.'

Donalds echoed Ramaswamy's sentiments, criticizing the trial as reminiscent of a 'third-rate banana republic' rather than the United States of America. Both allies of Trump expressed their strong disapproval of the trial and its perceived political motivations.

The ongoing NY v. Trump trial continues to draw attention and controversy as key figures associated with the former president voice their concerns about the proceedings. The outcome of the trial remains uncertain, but the criticisms leveled against it by Trump's allies shed light on the deep political divisions surrounding the case.
