2 signings by Cardinals named among most player-friendly contracts

The Arizona Cardinals went out in free agency and added a few players, some who will likely start and some who will be depth. Two of the deals they gave players ended up on PFF’s list of the most player-friendly contracts, suggesting they overpaid.

Of the five most player-friendly deals in free agency, the Cardinals gave out two of them, one to cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting and the other to defensive lineman Justin Jones.

Murphy-Bunting’s contract is three years for $25.5 million. He ended up being the best available corner available under age 27.

Jones got three years for more than $31.1 million.

That is a deal that must project more production than he has had. He did have 7.5 sacks, 22 tackles for loss and 50 total defensive stops over the last two seasons.

By comparison, the Cardinals gave Jordan Phillips three years and $30 million after he had 9.5 sacks for the Bills.

It doesn’t mean it is a bad deal, but it is definitely good for Jones.
